Remedies for Cuts and Bruises
Cuts, scrapes, bruises; helpful remedies for all.
A cut or scrape usually bleeds, and there may be a risk of infection. Any wound should be evaluated by medical personnel and receive appropriate first aid and emergency care; the risk of internal bleeding inside the body, infection, and serious external bleeding are major concerns.
With blunt trauma, the possibility of internal bleeding or organ damage is possible, even if there is little sign of injury to the surface.
ARNICA
The most important remedy for trauma and bruises. Cuts, splinters, wounds and bruises that may feel painful or bleed suggest this remedy. The person often feels worse with movement and does not want to be touched. Arnica is especially useful for bruises and new, traumatic injuries that feel sore.
BELLIS PERENNIS
This remedy is often indicated for bruises, deep muscle injuries, and blunt traumatic injuries to the abdomen or pelvis. The affected area feels stiff, cold and sore. The person feels better after applying cold applications to the affected part. This is a good remedy for bruises that do not respond to Arnica.
CALENDULA
This remedy may be helpful if the wound involves broken skin. It often used to prevent infection when the wound becomes inflamed or has some whitish pus draining from a closed wound. The person may feel feverish and be sensitive to open air.
HYPERICUM
Painful wounds to areas that are rich with nerves, such as the tongue, fingertips, toes, tailbone, spine and genitals indicate this remedy. It is useful for any injury that involves nerve pain or injury. There may be shooting pains radiating from the wound, and tingling or numbness. The person feels worse when he or she is touched or feels cold.
LEDUM
Wounds that feel cold and puncture wounds suggest this remedy. The affected body part may feel cold and numb but the person does not want to cover it and finds relief with cold applications. Ledum can also be used when there is bruising with the injury accompanied by swelling and pain, or there is a threat of infection. Bruises may have a bluish tinge and be slow to disappear.
RUTA GRAVEOLENS
This remedy if often used for cuts and scrapes which injure the tendons, muscles and joints, especially the cut is followed by stiffness and aching. It may be used for cuts and scrapes on the shin that bruise the bone.
